The northbound and southbound main lanes of Interstate 35 will be closed near mile marker 303 from 8 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday, the Texas Department of Transportation informed the city of Temple.
The contractor will be setting new beams for the new Spur 290 bridge over I-35.
Drivers are encouraged to take different routes and avoid that area.
Northbound drivers will detour onto the southbound frontage road and northbound drivers should take Loop 363 around Temple. Southbound drivers will be detoured to Loop 363.
Anyone needing to get to downtown Temple and areas east of I-35 may use the following routes:
• Take Exit 301 (Central Avenue/Adams Avenue).
• Turn right onto Central Avenue and take it to Third Street or go due east to downtown Temple.
• Turn left onto Third Street.
• Drive north on Third Street for about 2 miles.
• The Cultural Activities Center/Frank W. Mayborn Center will be on the right.
• Take Exit 304/Loop 363.
• Turn right onto Loop 363.
• Take Loop 363 about 4 miles to Airport Road.
• Turn left onto Airport Road.
• Airport Road will become Central Avenue after 2 miles.
• Take Central Avenue to Third Street or go due east into downtown Temple.
• Turn left onto Third Street.
• Drive north on Third Street for about 2 miles.
• The Cultural Activities Center/Frank W. Mayborn Convention Center will be on the right.
On Monday and Tuesday nights, beginning at 7 p.m., northbound traffic in Bruceville-Eddy will be routed to the access road for full closures beginning at Old Blevins Road (exit 314).
