Fort Hood identifies soldier found dead in barracks

FORT HOOD -- Fort Hood officials have released the name of a 24-year-old soldier who was found unresponsive Aug. 19 in his barracks room on Fort Hood.

Spc. Dion Shannon Servant, of Maywood, Illinois, entered active-duty service in June 2014 as a petroleum supply specialist. He was assigned to 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, since December 2014.

Servant’s awards and decorations include the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon.

Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation.
