A burn ban went into effect at 8 p.m. Friday, Bell County Judge David Blackburn announced.
The ban will be in effect until at least Monday when the Bell County Commissioners Court can meet to discuss and vote on an extension.
“Our hot and dry conditions are doing what we would expect them to do in July … continuing," Blackburn said. "As such, and upon the recommendation of the Bell County Fire Marshal, I have issued a burn ban order for Bell County."
The order, which restricts all outdoor burning, comes as temperatures in Central Texas are forecast at 100 degrees or more over the next several days.
