Lampasas police chased a stolen vehicle east on U.S. Highway 190 Monday morning at speeds that reached as high as 115 mph, according to a news release.
The vehicle eventually crashed into a tractor-trailer near the intersection of U.S. Highway 190 and FM 2313 in Kempner, the release said. The driver — a 19-year-old male — and the passenger — a 23-year-old male — were taken to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Temple with extensive injuries. The driver of the truck was uninjured, the release said.
On Monday, around 10:15 a.m., Lampasas police located a vehicle that was recently reported stolen in Killeen, the release said. A resident directed police to a different vehicle in the Walmart parking lot — a black Kia Soul — in which the occupants had been acting suspiciously. The driver of the Kia sped out of the parking lot when police attempted to stop the vehicle, the release said.
The vehicle appeared to flee east on U.S. Highway 190, the release said. After identifying the license plate, Lampasas police determined that Killeen police had reported that vehicle stolen as well, the release said.
