HARKER HEIGHTS — A 23-year-old Killeen man is charged with murder in the shooting death of Taurus Berkhart Stubbs, police said.
Tre Jean Smith, 23, of Killeen, remained in the Bell County Jail on Thursday in lieu of a $1 million bond, records showed.
Smith is accused of Stubbs on March 9 at the Gameday Sports Bar and Grill in Harker Heights. Stubbs was shot multiple times, police said. He died at Seton Medical Center.
Stubbs was with a woman in the parking lot before the shooting. Surveillance video showed the shooter arrived in a car, exited the vehicle, walked past the woman and shot Smith, according to an arrest affidavit.
The woman initially told police she didn’t know who shot Stubbs, but later implicated Smith, the affidavit said.
Cell phone records showed Smith was in the immediate area of the shooting when the incident occurred, the affidavit said.
