A 22-year-old woman died following a crash Tuesday morning near Yarrelton.
Department of Public Safety Troopers responded to the crash at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday on FM 485 about 4 miles east of Yarrelton, a news release from DPS Sgt. Bryan Washko said.
A 2016 Chevrolet truck towing a trailer reportedly was traveling westbound on FM 485 driven by a 30-year-old man from Houston. At the same time, a 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage car driven by a 22-year-old man from Sahuarita, Ariz., was traveling eastbound on FM 485. The driver of the truck reportedly attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone on a hill crest and collided with the Mitsubishi.
A front seat passenger of the car, identified as 22-year-old Mallory Regina Shaw of Hampstead, N.C., was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Greg Hoelscher. The woman’s next of kin have been notified.
The crash is under investigation.
