The Temple school board is almost ready to vote on a $119.8 million budget for the 2019-20 school year.

Last year, the district had a budget of $111.5 million. Preparing school budgets has been tricky this year, as districts across the state waited for the Legislature to make a decision on school finance before projecting their expected revenues.

Education options have expanded dramatically in recent years, adding home schooling, charter schools and other new choices to the traditional public and private campuses.

The Jarrell Independent School District board of trustees decided its upcoming campus will be called Igo Elementary, after the family of five who died tragically in 1997.
